IMChat has was created as a co-oporative venture and led to the creation of MMI Technology UK Ltd in 2004 with Peter Woodford as the founder.IMChat is an Instant Messenger Java application for MDIP 2.0 mobiles. There has been over 3000 downloads so far.

Most major Instant Messaging services have now created mobile clients for their services and systems. More recent research highlights two trends in workplace IM: mobile IM and integration of IM systems with calendar systems.
